More on Rock Band : Phish

by Yome NetSan 1. April 2011

At last !

I managed to get more precise stuffs about Rock Band : Phish, and it’s MASSIVE !

The game will cover all of Phish career with live recording only, from Colorado 88 to NYE 2010-2011.
Several modes will be available : Career ala The Beatles Rock Band, Concert with 2 randomly-generated sets, Practice with exercises from the band practice room.
Each track will offer real improvisation sections (score based on melodic and rythmic harmonies) and most of them will feature real concert footage in HD.
Of course, all the plastic instruments will be supported, including the new keybord and the 102-buttons guitar from Rock Band 3.
The game is developped with close participation of Phish members and will feature an exclusive 30 minutes in-studio jam.
Just like livephish.com, every future DLC (albums, concerts) will benefit to The Waterwheel Fundation.

Man, I can’t wait to play this game !!... But it's unlikely to be released outside of the USA... Glade the PS3 isn't region-locked !

Exclusive news : a Phish video game !

by Yome NetSan 29. March 2011

Part of my job as a web developper is that the company I work for/in change after each project. This way, I get to know different people and way to work depending of the size of the company. That’s why I work in a city 150 km from my house since november 2010.
One of my new co-worker has lived in Los Angeles for several years and still have many friends in the US. After asking her if she had someone who can get my the 3 limited editon vinyls from Phish and Mike Gordon released for the Record Store Day, she came back to me with some incredible news.
When she lived there, she actually befriended someone who recently moved to Massachusetts to work at Harmonix, Rock Band video games creators. This person was so surprised to know that a guy in France love Phish so much he ask half the planet to get 3 discs from Los Angeles, he when pretty talky about a current project in his company :
Rock Band : Phish !

I’ll try to get more informations about this in the following days because all that I know is that the game is planned to be released simultaneously with a very anticipated DVD/BluRay boxset from a very very famous show...

So...

by Yome NetSan 2. January 2010

According to Trey (who is after all a pretty good source), they won't be Phish shows until summer 2010. Or did he meant no US shows until summer ?

That with the fact that the european rumors dates were PT home-made, so completly bull shit, I guess we won't have a European tour soon...

I don't think I'll wait any furthur to see Phish. I don't want to be like in 2004 and realize I won't see them at all. I'd rather do a full European tour than 3 or 4 dates in the US but I rather go to any Phish show rather none at all.

See you this summer ?

5 months

by Yome NetSan 9. December 2009

If these rumors are true, Phish should play there first gig in Europe since 1998 in just 5 months.

Unfortunalty, it seems unlikely they would announce such a tour this late, unless they really don't want US fans to jump the ocean to follow them.

I do hope they'll tour in Europe but the more time pass, the more I doubt it'll happens soon...

What's up ?

by Yome NetSan 25. November 2009

Nothing.

No new news about a european tour although some website are spreding the august rumors only this week.

I'm weak so I finaly bought things I saved money from :

  • Gravity Crash, PS3 downloadable game (7€)
  • Braid, PS3 downloadable game (10€)
  • The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time mangas (2x 7,50€ saved each month)

I received an answer for my Joy box that doesn't make me laugh.

I'm listening to the Fall tour each day and I'm loving it althought i'd like more variety in setlist. I'm sick of Chalkdust Torture, You enjoy myself and Down with Disease.

DMB in Europe, hint for a Phish tour ?

by Yome NetSan 20. October 2009

Although some phishheads keep saying that the Dave Matthews Band isn't a jam band and can't be compared to Phish, I'm a little interrested in the recent announcement of a European 2010 tour.

The main reason for my interrest is that both Phish and DMB are in the same management company, Red Light Management. While I'm not really sure the management company and the ticket selling are related, it's a fact that the bands also shared the same TicketMaster ticket selling system.

I will sure take a look at the ticket selling process with DMB to prepare for a hypothetic Phish tour. A big difference already is that DMB has a paying fan club (The Warehouse) where fans can purchase tickets before their public release. Phish doesn't have such a private selling website. I will also check if the tickets will be available through regular european markets.

I can see that there is a 4 mounths gap between the anouncement (20th oct. 2009) and the first show (13th feb. 2010). If the rumors are true, we can expect an announcement for a Phish European tour by december 2009. We can only wait...

-------------------------------------

On a side european note, I received a nice mail from a German based jam band radio show called Stash. Recent shows can be downloads as mp3 file and showcase bands like Phish, Grateful Dead or Cosmic Fingers.
Take listen at stash-radio.de and myspace.com/stash_radio !

One year ago today

by Yome NetSan 1. October 2009

tonight is the one year anniversary of the last time (hopefully) we will know a world with no phish. my life has changed so much since october 1, 2008. i was at an awful part of my life, stuck in a completely trainwrecked relationship, borderline failing out of school. then on october 1, 2008, i woke up to 7 texts and 3 missed calls. i hadn't been pt'ing too much at the time, so phish was at the way back of my mind. my initial reaction was that there had been a family emergency, but alas, it was friends and family telling my that my band was back together. i could not contain my excitement, i skipped class, reconnected with long lost phish friends, and since then, have completely turned my life around again.

it is stupid to say that phish's reunion helped me get my life back together, because that simply isnt true. but they did rekindle my passion for music, how much i enjoy playing it, and how it is the only thing that makes sense to me in the entire world. i started listening to my favorite albums again, like revolver, and started listening to phish again, and how fresh and new the world was. i have had a new, optimistic and music filled life since 10/1/08, and tonight is the anniversary of when i said goodbye to a sad existence.

How much would it cost ?

by Yome NetSan 21. September 2009

I spoke about my money saving several times but on the other hand, I have to plan how much would it cost to attend all 10 rumored shows over a course of 13 days.

I won't count the travels for now.

  • So 10 tickets : 10 x 30€ (average price for a not-so-famous-in-Europe band) = 300€
  • Food for 13 days : 13 x 20€ = 260 €
  • Hostel or somewhere to sleep for 13 nights (even if I might rest in my brother's in Paris or have a home break in Lyon between Barcelona and Paris) :
    13 x 50€ = 650 €
  • Souvenir, T-shirts, posters, memorabilia and omiyage :
    10 x 20 € = 200€
I'm in a in 1410€ trip without actually going to the shows... I better have to save, save, SAVE !

As a side note, Mr. Miner put 2 greats European '97 shows this weekend in his PhishThoughts.com.

Planes again

by Yome NetSan 18. September 2009

Still planning over rumors...

I found that if I start from Geneva, I can fly to Duesseldorf for only 117,09€ with British Airways.
There is still a 1h stop-over in London (?!) but it's cheap and rather quick (4h in total).

After the Munich show, I'd have to go to Bern, Switzerland.
The cheapest flight would cost 300€+ so it's much too expensive. I think train would be the answer but it's more difficult to find time tables and price for train in Germany...

Plane planning

by Yome NetSan 30. August 2009

Ok, I know it's planning over unsourced rumors but anyway.

I live in Lyon, France. So I have to plan my tour starting from this point.
For now, I'll just have a look at the "big" travels from city to city.

So let's start with Lyon -> Dusseldorf

  • With British Airways, I have a flight for  189€ but it's 08h15 > 17h25, so 9h10 with 1 stop-over
  • With Lufthansa, it's only 1h20 long without stop-over but for 563€... Ouch !
  • If I leave from Paris and the day before the show (5/8 instead of 5/9) I found a 44€ direct fight (1h25) !
After the Dusseldorf show (1st Phish show in Europe in 12 years !), I have only one day to go to Munich.
  • I can flight with Air Berlin for 40€
  • I guess i could also take the (A-)train but i couldn't find a price (except for a 177€ Eurotrain).
See you later for the other flights !
